Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I have to report my performance to ASCAP?
A: You should ask your performance venue to report to ASCAP. Any venue that is making money off of live performances in their space must pay a blanket license to have music performed there legally. By purchasing my music, you also agree to make sure that your venue reports your performance to ASCAP, or to Matt@mattrileymusic.com so that I can report to ASCAP. Performances during normal church service times are exempt, but performances at church events that are outside of normal church service times need to be reported. You can submit a report directly using ASCAP's Concert Performance Notification form here.

Q: Do you ever have sales?
A: Yes, but only for members. Sign up here — free membership gets you 5% off everything, and paid tiers get significantly more. Once you're signed up, your discount code is on your member page. If you can't find it, sign in and check there first. Still stuck? Email matt@mattrileymusic.com.

Q: How are the files delivered once they are paid for?
A: Once you complete your order, my website automatically sends you an email with a link to download the PDFs and MP3s. If you have not received an email from my site immediately after purchase, check your junk folder.

Q: Help! I purchased some sheet music from you but you never sent me my files. What's the hold-up??
A: I did send them to you. My website automatically sends you an email with a link to download the PDFs and MP3s. This happens immediately after your purchase. Check your spam folder. If it's not there, send me an email at matt@mattrileymusic.com and I'll take care of it right away.

Q: Help! I downloaded the files but I can't open them for some reason! Why is life so hard for me??
A: Don't worry. I always make sure everyone gets their music one way or another. That could mean emailing people the files directly and making sure they can open them. Try this first:

  • If you are using a tablet, try downloading it to your computer first. You can transfer it from there if you want.
  • If you can't open a PDF, make sure you have the last version of Adobe Reader which is available for free here. You can also open them by dragging them into Chrome.

If you are still having trouble, send an email to matt@mattrileymusic.com

Q: Help! I didn't realize that the download links expire! Can you resend them?
A: Yes, just send me an email. The link expiration is set by my web host (for security reasons) and I have no control over that. However, your digital purchase never expires so send me an email.

Q: I bought a Soloist Suite and now I want to upgrade to the Ensemble Suite. Do I have to pay full price again?
A: No. Send me an email at matt@mattrileymusic.com and I'll set up an upgrade at the price difference between what you paid for the Soloist Suite and the Ensemble Suite price. You keep everything you already have and the chamber arrangements get added to your library.

Q: Will I receive hard copies of the PDF sheet music that I ordered?
A: No, you will receive a link to download your sheet music. From there you can print at home.

However, print versions of all my scores are now available for purchase. The best part is that you still get your digital PDF copy in addition to the print version. Large conductor scores come spiral bound on 11"x17" paper with beautiful glossy color covers. Send an email to matt@mattrileymusic.com.

Print versions of solo instrument arrangements are also available for an extra $10 above the PDF price and will come on 8.5x11-inch paper. Request for larger paper may be accommodated for $15. To order these, send me an email and I will set up a custom order.

Q: Can I share or distribute the files that I purchased from you?
A: No. The files are yours alone. Don't share them. Tell your friends that they need to buy their own legal copies at www.mattrileymusic.com.

Q: Can you change the key for me?
A: Yes. Send me an email at matt@mattrileymusic.com

Q: Can you make some special adjustments to the sheet music for me?
A: Yes, for an additional fee or for free if it is easy.

Q: I have saxes but the score doesn't call for them. Can you send me doubled French Horn parts?
A: Yes, I want as many ensembles as possible to perform my music so I will try accommodate as many of these types of requests as I can. Don't have a string section but have a synth keyboard player? I'll see if I can get you a string reduction. Don't have violas but have lots of violins? I'll send you a Violin III part from the Viola part. Let me know!

Q: Are Finale files or Musicxml files available for all your sheet music products?
A: Yes, for an additional fee.

Q: Can you make a custom arrangement for me? Can I commission you?
A: Maybe for a fee. Send me an email at matt@mattrileymusic.com and we'll discuss the details.

Q: Are you open to suggestions, requests, and ideas?
A: Of course! Send me an email at matt@mattrileymusic.com or use the Comments section so others can chime in.

Q: Can I make a video using your music?

A: We can probably make that happen but send me an email at matt@mattrileymusic.com to discuss the details. Or you can join the appropriate subscription tier here. Be sure to choose one of the tiers that allow you to post videos.

Q: Would you be up for a Zoom call with my class?
A: Yes, if time allows. Send me an email at matt@mattrileymusic.com and we'll discuss the details.
