Riparian Reverie is a lyrical, flowing piece for harp and string orchestra. The harp opens the piece and is featured at key moments, but it stays woven into the ensemble rather than set out front as a soloist.

Riparian Reverie was commissioned by Dr. Christie Blute as a gift in honor of her daughter, who played harp for the Gregory School Advanced Orchestra in Tucson, Arizona for seven years, filling in missing parts and helping build the program from a small group into the ensemble that premiered this piece. Writing it was a collaboration with the students. They shared ideas and feedback along the way, and they chose the title, inspired by the riparian area just outside their classroom.
